Case in point:  91% of cybersecurity leaders are frustrated with their SEGs, and 87% are considering a replacement.  Why?  With the growing sophistication of attacks, SEG’s are becoming more porous.  In fact, 1 in 5 malicious emails end up in our employee’s inbox.  The first 3 months of 2024 saw a 52.2% increase in the number of attacks that bypassed SEG detection.

Here are some additional statistics you need to know.  In the first 3 months of 2024, 

👉 24.9% of attacks employing technical measures, to bypass detection, hijacked a legitimate hyperlink. 

👉 19.6% of attacks concealed hyperlinks to phishing websites within image-based attachments.

👉 16.2% used HTML smuggling, where an encoded malicious script is ‘smuggled’ within an HTML attachment.

👉 48.3% of the attacks that bypassed an SEG were sent from legitimate but compromised accounts.

And that’s just email.  Attacks are on the rise through other vectors such as social media, browsers and search engines, and messaging applications.  The approach you’ve been using for 20 years now just isn’t working – it’s just not enough.
